Thistle Hotel, Port Dickson

We plan to have a family beach gateway nearby as my sister's children like to play water. After much thought, our choice of destination this time is the Thistle Hotel in Port Dickson
This 5-star beach resort with 251 luxurious rooms is one of the top hotels in Port Dickson located along Jalan Pantai, Teluk Kemang with a fairly long stretch of beachfront.
We reached the resort close to 3pm, just nice for check-in. The lobby is a bit stuffy and packed with peoples. We even have to line up and wait for our turn to check in. Check-in was pretty slow. There are check-in desks at both left and right side of the lobby but only one side seemed to be in operation.  A bit disappointing though.
Despite the bad first impression, luckily the room was a saving grace. We stay in the Deluxe Sea View with a very nice pool view, located at the same floor as the main lobby. It was spacious, clean, cozy and well-maintained. It comes with twin beds and a sofa day bed.
The basic must haves – tea and coffee making facilities.
One of the most spectacular facilities in this resort is the swimming pool. The pool spans over a big area and it is the main attraction for many resort guests.
The pool looked so tempting!
The pool is divided into a few sections with different depths clearly stated.
The kiddie pool and slide area which is very popular among small kids. Upper deck of the kiddie pool is a wading pool for babies. This is the water slides.
The main pool is deep (2 to 2.5 metres) and life guards could be seen patrolling around the pool all the time to look out for the safety of pool users. This with a bigger water slide.
One can also hang around the pool-side bar for drinks and enjoy the view : )
Besides that, Thistle Hotel has almost every facilities that suits you and your family needs.
It has private beach, spa, games room, lego room, children indoor playground, pool table, tennis court, gym room, water sports and .....
a 9-hole golf course!
The beach is just about 100 metres away.
Way leading to the beach area...
The stretch of the private beach at Thistle Port Dickson.
Even though I don’t have high expectation for the beaches in Port Dickson but to my surprise, the beach is quite clean and water surprisingly quite clear.
You can sit down on the beach chair, relax your mind, overlooking the Straits of Malacca.
But, do watch out for sand flies! Remember to put on your insect repellent and sun block.
Or build your own sand castle..
Family photos at the beach!
Here end our 2 days 1 night family gateway.
We enjoyed playing with sand and swimming here.
Recommend this place for family gateway.

There are a number of seafood restaurants outside the resort. Restoran Port Dickson 肥肥海鲜楼 is one of the nearest to the resort as it is just a short drive away. The food served there is quite nice and the price is reasonable. We had our lunch there before heading back.

Pahang: Fifty4Fern @ Janda Baik (Day 2)

Simple and nice breakfast served by the staff to our chalet.
Tuna bread, egg and teh tarik.
It was really a lovely place.
This was the stairs leading up to the dining hall and the bigger chalet rooms.
With the hanging fine roots from the tree, it was like a curtain along the stairways. Very nice!
Back to the nature.
Nice wooden chalet room.
Staffs there were all nice and helpful, but yet discreet. So, we do have all the privacy we wanted.
All in all, it was a nice gateway choice for a quiet and good rest. Totally recommending this place for those who want to experience a little bit of nature stay.

Pahang: Fifty4Fern @ Janda Baik (Day 1)

Tired with the hectic office works, traffic jams, problems.....so, me and my 3 colleagues decided to go for a 2 days 1 night gateway at Fifty4Fern Resort in Janda Baik, Pahang. It's a relatively new resort in Janda Baik itself, and we couldn't find much information about it. But we would like to give it a try, because "Life is about exploring and experience thing(s) yourself!".

Fifty4Fern is situated in Janda Baik, yet we never heard of it and we can't located it in Waze, because it is nestled on hill within the valley, hidden from the main roads. We followed the map they sent to guide us there. It is rather simple as i would say : )
We drove through the winding, really narrow roads, with the cliff just below at certain paths. We were praying that there were no oncoming cars as it was a one way road that only fit for a single car ..... sweating!!
It certainly looked like we drove through the jungle! After about 20 minutes, we reach the entrance of Fifty4Fern resort. Thank God!
This is the driveway of the resort. We were welcomed by Mr Bishnu Kumar.
Fifty4Fern sits on 10 hectares natural grounds with valleys, rivers and tropical surroundings. The owners must have invested a tremendous amount of efforts to preserve the integrity of the landscape and ensuring the facilities are as green as possible.
First thing to do when we reach: Take a group photo : b
